LPKY has a convention every year, in order to do specific business, like electing officers for the party and to make any amendments to the LPKY State Party Constitution. The conventions are also a good opportunity to meet those from around the state who are working to spread liberty, just like you are.

Internet, RIP?

Today the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), a non-elected federal government agency, voted three-to-two to reclassify broadband Internet as a common carrier service under Title II of the Communications Act. This means that – without the vote of Congress, the peoples’ branch of government – a federal agency now claims the power to regulate the Internet. I am surprised that even among civil liberties groups some claim the federal government increasing regulation of the Internet somehow increases our freedom and liberty.

The truth is very different. The adoption of these FCC rules on the Internet represents the largest regulatory power grab in recent history. The FCC’s newly adopted rule takes the most dynamic means of communication and imposes the regulatory structure designed for public utilities. Federal regulation could also open the door to de facto censorship of ideas perceived as threatening to the political class – ideas like the troops should be brought home, the PATRIOT Act should be repealed, military spending and corporate welfare should be cut, and the Federal Reserve should be audited and ended.

The one bright spot in this otherwise disastrous move is that federal regulations making it more difficult to use the Internet will cause more Americans to join our movement for liberty, peace, and prosperity. The federal government should keep its hands off of the Internet!

BREAKING: FCC Can Now Regulate and Censor the Internet

2/26/2015

February 26, 2015 by Greg Markle

At 12:59 EST today, the FCC voted to give itself the power to regulate the Internet as a public utility under “Title II.” Prices, access, content, and privacy will all be monitored and controlled by bureaucrats at the FCC.

The FCC will be able to decide what is “just and reasonable” for everything associated with the Internet. The Internet as we know it may never be the same.

If the FCC doesn’t like the way you’re running your online business? You’ll have to do what it says. If the FCC doesn’t like the content on your website? You’ll have to change it.

GenOpp President Evan Feinberg warns, Regulating the Internet as a public utility is a terrible mistake. The Internet is full of possibilities we haven’t even imagined yet. Leave it to politicians and bureaucrats to believe they are smart enough to control something as dynamic and ever-changing as the Internet.

Last year, GenOpp drove 3,300 people to Facebook bomb the FCC Page to protest this government takeover, but that’s nothing compared to the grassroots uprising that’s coming.

They’ve awakened a sleeping giant. Our generation has grown up with the Internet. We’ve seen what’s possible on the free and open Internet where we can share ideas, communicate globally, create our own startups, and change the world through online activism.

Millions of us are going to fight to save the Internet. We’re never going to stop fighting. We’re never going to give up. We’re going to demand that our representatives overturn this FCC Internet takeover.

But first, the most important thing you can do right now to help save the Internet as we know it is to tell the FCC you oppose its power grab to regulate the Internet under Title II!
