It’s official! Gary Johnson just won the Libertarian Party Nomination for President! The voting just concluded on the floor of the Libertarian Party National Convention and we have the official delegate vote totals:

1. Gary Johnson – 56%
2. Austin Petersen – 22%
3. John McAfee – 14%

Gary Johnson is now the Libertarian Party’s nominee for President of the United States. This is the second Presidential election that Gary Johnson will be the party’s nominee for President.

Governor Johnson, the former two term governor of the state of New Mexico, has won the nomination for President by the Libertarian Party.

Johnson faced some tough opposition this year from other candidates, but in the end the Libertarian delegates are comfortable enough with his leadership and ability to bring forth the principles of the party to the mainstream public.

The 2016 election will be one of the most important elections this country has ever had. With the unpopularity of both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, the Libertarian Party is in a historic position to make a mark this election.

Johnson will now sell his platform to the American people and gain enough attention to get into the Presidential debates later this fall. He will be able to pull voters from both parties and put the Libertarians on a footing to make a historic showing in the 2016 election.

After a well-fought campaign the race for the Libertarian Party nomination is over. Each of the candidates toured the country meeting with state parties and their members at their conventions. They did their best to get the media to cover the race and earn the support of libertarians nationwide. All of that hard work has paid off for the party.

Gary stood head and shoulders above the rest during that campaign. Thanks to the the credibility of his two terms as Governor, Johnson was able to get earned media that put him another level. Libertarian delegates recognized that. They realized that his was the campaign that could get them into the Presidential debates. They saw that he was the only one who had the profile to be included in the polls.

They acknowledged that he was the only to be able to fundraise the millions needed to run a true national campaign. That’s why the delegates rewarded Gary Johnson with the Libertarian Party nomination.

Now there will be a short break before the delegates return to vote separately for Vice President. The delegates must realize that every advantage that Gary Johnson brings to the table is doubled by adding Bill Weld to the ticket. And doubling is necessary.
Only Weld is able to get hundreds of millions of dollars worth of media attention. Only Weld is able to raise the tens of millions of dollars needed to run a true national campaign. Anything less will not get us where we need to be. That’s the truth.

Furthermore, by #FeelingTheJohnson, delegates are acknowledging that they respect his judgement. It’s now time to respect his choice for Vice President. It’s time to unify the party and send a message to the country that we are a real major party that respects their Presidential nominee
