Neighbors are reporting that shots have been fired in a standoff in Berea.
Kentucky State Police confirm that a man has barricaded himself in his home in a Madison County neighborhood. Officials tell LEX 18 that the man is in his home off Raven Road in Berea and is threatening to shoot police on the scene. A woman and child in the residence were safely removed.
The man has multiple firearms and police are urging neighbors to stay in their homes out of precaution. Police have said they will be making entry into the home soon. Troopers say they have been shooting out lights near the home in order to obscure entry.
KSP confirming the guy barricaded in his home is a former police officer. They say he is under the influence of alcohol. Police have still not attempted to enter the home.
