According to a recent survey conducted by The Pew Research Center 23% of the population who call themselves libertarians don't actually know what the term means, which some may not find surprising considering the disenfranchised majority of americans do not identify with americas political duopoly, leaving many to speculate exactly who's interest the establishment is serving. In recent years corporate media has tried unsuccessfully to brand libertarians as 'tea partiers', 'Neo Confederates' and even anarchist to suit their respective agenda but realistically labeling libertarians doesn't work because there are so many different types of Libertarians. "I think people are attracted to Libertarianism because it's more of a philosophical approach to things rather than an ideological one, in my experience theres something very freeing in it's self about standing for ideals & principles over doctrine and dogma" according to former LPKY6 Chair Bryan S. Short, "there's a lot of different points of view to consider and people don't often agree 100% but there's certainly no purity standards other than adherence the nonaggression principle, I'm not in the practice of telling people what to believe, I think that's best left to individuals to determine for themselves". Perhaps some americans resent being forcibly indoctrinated in to a partisan belief system by subscribing to the ideology of the status quo and choose to participate in the democratic process voluntarily with The Libertarian Party regardless of wether they know what the word libertarian itself actually means or not because their actually able to engage in the political process unlike the dog & pony shows eximplified by the establishment. Could this be evidence that americans are beginning to see beyond the 'right/left paradigm'? Only time will tell..
